EDGE Innovate is honoured to have represented Northern Ireland’s world-renowned material handling manufacturing sector at the recently held Northern Ireland Investment Summit. EDGE Innovate is located in the heart of Mid-Ulster; a region that is recognised as the centre of manufacturing and engineering in Northern Ireland. The sector accounts for 21% of the local economy and provides nearly 11,000 jobs. It is estimated that the manufacturing and engineering sector in Mid-Ulster delivers approximately £1.67bn to the local economy and over £710m in local wages, directly and indirectly. A staggering 40% of the world’s mobile crushing and screening equipment is made in Mid-Ulster.

Announced by the UK Prime Minister, as part of the Belfast Good Friday Anniversary commemorations, during USA President Biden’s visit to Belfast in April 2023, the Northern Ireland Investors Summit will provide a major business, cultural and economic moment for Northern Ireland in 2023. Guests from the US, Ireland, UK and Europe and other key economic markets travelled to Belfast in what was the largest collection of leading investors and international businesses that Northern Ireland has hosted.

The Summit delivered by the Department for Business and Trade in close partnership with Invest Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Office and jointly hosted by both the Secretary of State (SOS) for the Department for Business and Trade and the Secretary of State for the Northern Ireland Office.

The invitation-only Summit gathered leading Northern Irish businesses together to showcase Northern Ireland’s strengths and opportunities in key sectors of the future to key investors, high net worth individuals, international businesses, and organisations.

EDGE Innovate, a family company with a global reach has evolved to become one of the world’s largest manufacturers and exporters of sophisticated equipment for the quarrying, material handling and recycling sectors. Employing 170 people directly, the company currently exports more than 99% of its products outside of the UK having developed a strong presence throughout overseas markets such as North America, Australia, and Middle East. In 2022, the company was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise recognising its excellence in International Trade for a second time, as one of only seven companies to achieve two awards. The business also entered the Northern Ireland’s Top 100 Companies list for the first time in 2023.

To meet the growing demands on the business, EDGE Innovate have recently opened a new 36,150ft² factory which encompasses a state of the art fabrication and final assembly lines which the company says will result in the creation of 20 new jobs.

Over 200 international investors were in attendance to learn first-hand how the UK Government intends to build upon the competitive business environment that makes Northern Ireland a most attractive investment destination. The Summit will also provide a unique opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland as an attractive and vibrant place to do business and help drive new investment into its economy.
