J Dickinson & Sons is a fourth generation business based on the M61 corridor west of Bolton, Lancashire. James Dickinson, the managing director, runs the business on a 17 acre site accepting waste from all around the country on their purpose-built site, which they moved to in 2001. While there is a skip hire arm to the business, their main work is processing waste.

Just a decade ago McKinstry’s Skip Hire like the majority of Irish recycling firms were taking 90% of all the waste collected across Northern Ireland straight to landfill. Today those figures have virtually been reversed, with over 90% of waste now being recycled and reused.
